Do not store your ax this way. Take an ax only if you consider it absolutely necessary. Then make sure it is used by a responsible person.

Your food should be packaged and packed in plastic such as all of Cliff Wold's food is packaged and packed here.

Do not take food or beverages in cans, bottles, or containers having any metal or glass into the BWCA or Quetico Park . Heavy plastic bottles and foil containers are not highly recommended. Bring out any litter you do have.

Individual eating and cooking utensils are packed in durable bags which may be tied around a tree, making them convenient for your use.

To make dish washing easier, all kettles, fry pans and griddles to be used over a fire should be soaped well on the outside as shown before placing over an open fire. No washing of dishes in, or near the lake is allowed.

Pack and portage your food and equipment only in our sturdy packsacks designed for canoe camping. Take care of the equipment.

Do not jam up the portages. If other groups are portaging, wait until they have cleared your end of the portage before landing your canoe. When you reach a portage, move across it, taking a break somewhere else so as to keep the portage open.

When portaging, unload your canoes first, placing all packsacks and gear together well off the portage trail. Then portage your canoes and gear. Build small fires under the firegrate provided. Camp in the BWCA only on approved campsites where the latrines and firegrates are found. These are indicated by a red dot on the maps that we provide for your canoe trip. Use a canoe bottom as a table.

Do not wash dishes or throw garbage or trash in the lake.

Do not throw garbage or trash in the latrines. Carry out all unburnable trash such as stove fuel cans, bug spray cans, and so forth which are permitted in the BWCA and Quetico Park.

Wash your dishes and drain the dishwater well away from the shoreline and campsite. This helps keep the lakes clean and makes camping more enjoyable.

Fishing can be great! Keep only what you can eat.

Dogs are permitted in the BWCA and Quetico Park. When portaging in the BWCA, they should be kept on a leash. In the Quetico Park they must be kept on a leash at all times, and to take them into the Quetico Park, you must have written proof that they have had rabies shots within the past year. With Cliff Wold's Canoe Trip Outfitting Co., dogs are welcome.

Above is our campground friend, Daisy, showing her interest in a canoe trip. As a courtesy to others, do not let your dog bark incessantly.

Do not abuse the wilderness. Here, 70 years of tree growth is wasted by the careless use of an ax.

Do not strip birch bark from green trees. Leave the birch bark on the trees where it belongs. There are plenty of fallen birches from which to obtain birch bark for starting fires.

Do not leave your fires burning when leaving the campsite for any reason. Make sure your fires are dead out before going to sleep at night. A forest fire can devastate the wilderness and be a danger to you and other campers.

Make sure your fires are dead out by stirring water into the ashes.
